Profile

CE Marketplace, a division of Michigan Realtors®, was established to track continuing education credits for Michigan Real Estate Licensees. In addition, they needed to review and certify that real estate continuing education content meets the standards set forth by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).

Challenge

Michigan Realtors® needed help tracking the continuing education (CE) credits for real estate licensees in Michigan. Previously, the state of Michigan tracked these credits, but they transferred that responsibility to CE Marketplace. As a result, the Michigan Realtors® decided they needed help with web and mobile app development.

Their vision was to create a portal for real estate brokers and salespersons in Michigan to easily track and report continuing education credits for Michigan Real Estate Licensees. In addition, they wanted a platform to review and certify that all real estate continuing education content meets the standards set forth by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

The Michigan Realtors® hired LUX interactive because they knew of their familiarity with helping organizations like them track CE credits for licensees in Michigan.

Solution

CE Marketplace is a user-friendly website for real estate brokers and salespersons to easily track their continuing education credit hours in Michigan. In addition, Michigan Realtors® worked directly with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) to establish a place that gives continuing education providers a streamlined, real-time process for course approval based on certification standards previously set by LARA.

As of November 1, 2018, LARA requires review and certification of continuing education courses for real estate brokers and salespersons in Michigan by the CE Marketplace to count towards licensee renewal requirements. In addition, all Michigan real estate licensees may register their user profile on CE Marketplace at no cost to track their continuing education compliance.

Implementing this system required significant legwork for Michigan Realtors® to set the parameters for tracking CE credits on behalf of the state of Michigan. However, once established, LUX digested that data and transformed it into a powerful platform.

Over the years, there have been continuous licensing changes. This platform enables CE Marketplace to keep up and help its members stay current.

“Because of LUX, we are able to track over 60,000 active users and their required multiple class completions and CE credit histories. We are also able to keep up with the ever-changing requirements of the state of Michigan. The project has been a great success so far.”
